Frequently asked questions

Does a photo reduced to 1 MB lose quality?

Very little: usually adjusting the compression is enough, without touching the dimensions. It is hard to tell apart from the original on screen.

Why is my phone photo larger than 1 MB?

Modern cameras save 12-megapixel or larger photos with light compression, 2 to 5 MB each. A form needs only a fraction of that.

Will I lose quality?

A little, but only as much as needed: nxpic looks for the highest quality that fits the size you choose. Only if even low quality does not fit does it also reduce the dimensions.

Does it work with iPhone photos (HEIC)?

Yes. You can drop HEIC photos directly and they are saved as JPG, PNG or WebP, whichever you choose.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser, on your device. You can check by disconnecting from the internet after opening the page: it keeps working.

What does "remove location and data" mean?

Many photos store where they were taken (GPS), the date and the camera model. With this option that data is removed from the file you download.

Why KB if my form says KiB or uses 1024?

nxpic counts 1 KB as 1000 bytes. That way the photo fits the limit whether the form counts with 1000 or 1024.
